Launch of the "Angola Hoje" Portal marks the social highlight of the week

Africa-Press – Angola. The launch of the new information portal, called “Angola Hoje”, under the auspices of the Ministry of Telecommunications, Information Technologies and Social Communication, marked the social highlight of the week that ends Saturday

The portal aggregates generalized information on national current affairs, from officials, tourism, culture, economy and investments, as well as Executive programs.

Internet users, nationally and internationally, will have access to information available in the areas of search, directory, videos, photos and news.

The Minister of Telecommunications, Information Technologies and Social Communication, Mário Oliveira, stated that the platform will embody one of the country’s governance mottos, “work harder and communicate better”.

With this portal, he said, the aim is to show the country’s potential to Angolans and foreigners, as well as the interconnection between public bodies, with diverse information for citizens and business people.

Regarding the cultural domain, the 2024 edition of the carnival made headlines, whose competitive parade took place on the Nova Marginal de Luanda.

In Luanda, União Recreativo do Kilamba, from the Rangel district, won, for the third consecutive time, the award for best carnival group in class A, with 896 points.

In class B, União Etu Mudietu, from the urban district of Sambizanga, was the winner with 852, while in the children’s class, the Cassules Viveiros do Njinga Mbandi group, from the municipality of Viana, renewed the title, with 808 points.

Likewise, Angola’s participation in the UNESCO World Conference on Artistic Culture was highlighted, an event that brings together 190 Ministers of Education and Culture worldwide to analyze, among others, themes linked to artistic education to achieve development objectives on global and national scales.

The Angolan delegation was guided by the Secretary of State for Culture, Maria da Piedade de Jesus.

The initiative supports the mission of the 2006 Lisbon Conference, which designed the UNESCO Roadmap for Arts Education, and the 2010 Seoul Conference, which adopted the Seoul Agenda: Goals for the Development of Arts Education.

It is a platform to encourage Member States and various interested parties, with the purpose of fueling their reflections on the subject, exchanging their experiences and, finally, adopting a “Framework for Cultural and Arts Education” that takes into account It counts not only the arts, but also culture, in its broadest sense.

The week was also marked by the physical death of the former Angola Press Agency (ANGOP-EP) journalist, António José Piçarra, who died on the 12th of this month, in Luanda, due to illness.

The journalist’s burial, which took place at Cemitério Alto das Cruzes, was marked by the commotion of family, friends, professional colleagues and neighbors who, in messages, remembered António Piçarra as a present, determined person and a competent professional.

Toy Piçarra, as he was better known, was considered by his colleagues at ANGOP-EP as an excellent professional who enjoyed what he did, with dedication and professionalism, so that younger journalists could gradually improve their performance.

The deceased joined the ANGOP staff in the 1980s, having held various roles, including Editor of the Political Desk, National Editor-in-Chief and Regional Delegate in the provinces of Huíla, Namibe and Cunene.

During the week, the first Travessia Festival paid tribute to the king of Angolan music, Elias Dia Kimuezo, for his contribution to music.

The tribute included the participation of artists from Angola, Portugal, Mozambique and Brazil, where Angolan musician Bruno Neto performed the song by Elias Dia Kimuezo, entitled “Ressurreição”.

Consecrated King of Angolan Music by the Angola Information and Tourism Center (CITA), Elias Dia Kimuezo stands out for his natural way of singing in the national language Kimbundo.
