Africa-Press – Angola. The new headquarters of the Viana District Court, in Luanda, was inaugurated this Wednesday, in a ceremony presided over by the Minister of Justice and Human Rights, Marcy Lopes, and part of the opening of the judicial year 2024, whose solemn act takes place on Friday.
It is a building with six floors, including a basement, with capacity for 50 vehicles and an administrative area with support rooms for judges, prosecutors, lawyers, users, as well as meeting rooms, auditorium, toilets and a cell.
When presenting the infrastructure, the judge-advisor president of the Supreme Court and the Superior Council of the Judiciary, Joel Leonardo, said it was one of the most modern courts built in the country since the achievement of National Independence, in 1975.
According to him, the six-story building, including a basement for parking vehicles, contains offices for magistrates, prosecutors and lawyers, as well as citizen service rooms, waiting rooms, archive rooms, washrooms, an amphitheater and a prison cell.
According to Joel Leonardo, in the first phase, 23 judges and 90 judicial employees will work at the court, with these numbers expected to increase to ensure faster justice that is celebrated by the people.

In his speech, the Minister of Justice and Human Rights said that the court now inaugurated will now house the house of justice, where the primacy of the Constitution and the law will be guaranteed, people’s fundamental rights will be defended, and the interests of the State will be protected. and the collective and the mission of judging with justice, certainty and equity will be carried out.
“Building the Rule of Law is a continuous and permanent mission, which has no rest or intervals, it is a race in which we are not allowed to “be careful” when we run out of breath or because we stumble, it is an exercise that does not allow for much retreat. less stagnation”, he highlighted.
According to the governor, it is with this spirit of mission that the executive has been investing in the justice sector, from the construction and rehabilitation of infrastructures, to their equipping and the improvement of working and accommodation conditions for law enforcement agencies. justice from Cabinda to Cunene and from the sea to the East.
Marcy Lopes called for everyone’s commitment so that the achievements achieved are not jeopardized by their misuse, neglect of the use of their assets or silent connivance in their looting and vandalization.
With an estimated population of three million inhabitants, Viana is a municipality located 18 kilometers from the country’s capital. It is limited to the north by the municipality of Cacuaco, to the east by Icolo and Bengo, to the south by Kissama and to the west by Belas, Kilamba Kiaxi and Talatona.
