Africa-Press – Angola. The president of the National Assembly (AN), Carolina Cerqueira, travels this Saturday to Paris (France), to participate, on the sixth and seventh of this month, in the Summit of Presidents of Parliaments from around the world.
The organization was founded in 2003 by Silvana Koch-Mehrin, former vice president of the European Parliament.
In a statement, the Communication and Image Office of the National Assembly states that, on the first day of the event, the organization chaired by Yael Braun-Pivet, leader of the National Assembly of the French Republic, will hold a conference on inspiring female personalities.
It is also planned to open an exhibition dedicated to women’s political rights, in the Festival Gallery of the National Assembly of France.
The day’s agenda also includes a guided tour of the hemicycle of the French Parliament, which will culminate in a reception in the lounges of the Hotel de Lassay.
On the second day, in the early hours, the presidents of parliaments will participate in two round tables on education for equality, the fight against violence against women and health, as well as another on equality and parity in politics and the affirmation of female role models.
In the afternoon of the same day, the parliamentarians will visit the Orangerie Museum, where they will have the opportunity to see Claude Monet’s “Water Lilies”.
The forum, which celebrates 11 years of existence, is a space for sharing experiences between women leaders from all over the world and analyzing advances and challenges in strengthening equity, participation and opportunities for women globally.
WPL (Women Political Leaders) is a global network of women political leaders at an international level, including the European Parliament, which currently has around nine thousand members.
Based in Reykjavik, Iceland, WPL contributes to increasing the number and influence of women in political leadership roles.
They are part of the parliamentary delegation, headed by the president of AN, deputy Rosa Branca Albino, third secretary of the AN Mesada, deputy Florbela Malaquias, president of the Humanist Party of Angola (PHA) and deputy Albertina Navita Ngolo , first vice-president of the UNITA Parliamentary Group.
