Contractor guarantees completion of houses in the Cabrais neighborhood

Africa-Press – Angola. The owner of the construction company PIS, Beto Pederneira, stated Monday, that the completion of the residences in the Cabrais neighborhood, located in the municipality of Catumbela (Benguela), is assured.

The Cabrais neighborhood was built in 2015, to house people who lived in risk areas after the rains of March 11 of that year, which left more than 70 fatalities in Lobito and Catumbela.

According to the contractor, despite the sacrifice of those who still have unfinished houses, PIS will continue the project.

He said, at the time, that he is preparing the delivery of another fifty-six finished residences soon.

At the end of last year, in the presence of Governor Luís Nunes, his company had delivered the first 30 houses, out of around three hundred.

Beto Pederneira asked residents who still live in unfinished residences to remain calm, as they will all be gradually finished, in order to provide more acceptable living conditions.

As for the basic services that were lacking, he was peremptory in pointing out water supply as a primary condition for giving life to that community. “Where there is water, there is life,” he exclaimed.

The businessman also referred to the subdivision and sale of land in that district, under the responsibility of the construction company.

On this subject, he confirmed the sale of several lots, measuring 1,000 square meters.

“At the time prices were around 300, 800 to one million Kwanzas, depending on the areas, but for now this process is suspended. It will resume at another time”, he clarified.

Contractor denounces property sale

Some owners of unfinished social houses in the Cabrais neighborhood are just waiting for their completion to sell them, reported the builder.

The owner of the construction company PIS stated that some recipients, with “unacknowledged purposes”, have even sold their homes.

He assured, however, that the Provincial Government will take the necessary measures to discourage this type of practice, he warned.
