Africa-Press – Angola. The General Population and Housing Census (RGPH – 2024 Census) will allow the identification of priority investment areas, with relevant indicators in the economic and social life of the country, said in Luanda, the Minister of State and Head of the President’s Military House of the Republic, Francisco Furtado.

Speaking at the opening of the seminar, addressed to the provincial multisectoral commission of the General Population and Housing Census (RGPH – 2024), he highlighted that the indicators are from the public and private sectors, with emphasis on health, education, housing, energy, transport, commercial and service infrastructures.

Francisco Furtado added that the Census/2024 could reveal and update valuable indicators for improving governance.

He stressed that the General Population and Housing Census is currently completing its second stage of the process, which consists of updating the country’s entire census cartographic network, with completion in the provinces of Bengo, Cabinda, Cuanza Norte and Lunda Sul , with more than 73% of the cartographic network already updated throughout the national territory.

In the opinion of the Minister of State, the success of the results expected in the Census, “are largely linked to personal dedication, dedication, commitment and rigor in carrying out previously programmed tasks”.

The training seminar for the Coordinators of the Provincial Multisectoral Support Committees for the 2024 Census takes place in Luanda, with the participation of provincial governors and vice-governors.

Available data indicate that the Multisectoral Census Commission expects to register 35 million inhabitants in Angola in the second census.
