Africa-Press – Angola. Striker Dabanda was decisive in the victory of Sagrada Esperança da Lunda Norte against FC Bravos do Maquis do Moxico, his former team, by scoring the only goal in the match on the 14th round of the National Football Championship “Girabola2023/24”.

On his return to Mundunduleno, after representing the maquisards for six seasons, Dabanda opened the scoring in the 12th minute, after stealing the ball from goalkeeper Kambamba, who was inattentive in the move, after receiving a pass from his colleague.

Despite the early goal, the eastern “derby” was worthy of its name, with slight dominance by the visitors, who appeared more daring, with quick and accurate plays in the opponent’s midfield.

After the goal, Jorginho could tie the match, eleven minutes later, with a powerful shot, which culminated in an excellent save by goalkeeper Langanga, with Sagrada maintaining the minimum result until half-time.

Upon resumption, Bravos do Maquis came out more determined to change the result of the game, creating greater intensity in the plays and thus reaching the opponent’s goal several times.

At 52′, Lara, with the goal open, could have equalized the score, but allowed goalkeeper Langanga to save.

Despite the successive offensive moves, which forced the Sagrada team to retreat on the field, the result of the derby remained unchanged, with the Maquisarde team recording their second consecutive defeat in the championship, after losing in the previous round against Petro de Luanda.

Declarations:

“We fulfill our role” – Roque Sapire

Speaking to the press, the coach of Sagrada Esperança da Lunda-Norte, Roque Sapiri, highlighted the attitude shown by his pupils, despite the high pressure from the opponent.

According to the coach, the “Lundas” did well in terms of positioning and approach to the game, corresponding to the responsibility and obligation they had to win to remain at the top of the league table.

Maquisarde’s coach, Mário Soares, blamed goalkeeper Kambamba for an alleged “fatal error” committed in the play that ended with the only goal of the match.

“Despite the lack of rhythm in the game, we were on top of Sagrada. We didn’t deserve to be defeated, however we have to have the astuteness to fight against everyone”, he concluded.

With this result, Maquis continues with 17 points in eighth place on the Girabola leaderboard, while Sagrada Esperança cements third place, with 30 points.

Desportivo da Lunda-Sul is the leader of the championship with 32 points. Matchday 14 has also rescheduled the dispute between the teams of Sporting de Cabinda and Académica do Lobito.
