Africa-Press – Angola. Petro de Luanda’s triumph in the Kalahari conference, of the African Basketball League, on Thursday night, against Fus Rabat from Morocco, is related to the performance in the initial periods.
Speaking at the Sun Bet Arena pavilion, after the short final advantage of 86-89, coach José Neto, however, downplayed the defensive and offensive errors in the final moments of the match.
“The inconsistency in the team happened again because the athletes haven’t trained together for some time”, he explained.
For the coach, Petro participates in the continental competition with the aim of winning it, but until then there is still a long way to go and a lot of improvement work to be done in the face of strong opponents.
Despite the defeat, Fus Rabat leads the competition, with 7 points, against 5 for Petro de Luanda, while the hosts Cape Town Tigers come next, with three points and the same number of defeats.
However, the two teams are already qualified for the finals to be played from May 24th to June 1st, in the city of Kigali (Rwanda), in which teams from the Sahara and Nile conferences will also take part.
On Saturday, in the final round, Petro will face Cape Town from South Africa, just to meet the schedule.
