Africa-Press – Angola. Engineer Patrício Quingongo considered, the main challenges of the oil sector to be the increase in production, the number of national companies and the presence of quality human resources.
The director of the consulting company PetroAngola, who was speaking to the press, on the sidelines of the “Workshop on the Challenges of the Oil Industry in Angola and Employability in the Sector”, recalled that Angola reached a production of two million barrels in 2008 and, currently , is producing just under a million.
According to the expert, “Angola lost 50 percent of production, which must be resumed so that the country can have everything it needs to better leverage the desired development”.
However, he explained that the Government is already working on bidding for blocks to boost oil production, as the country needs to have blocks available for exploration.
“Angola has an immeasurable potential of young people who can do well in the oil industry, but students must know that the oil industry is very demanding, in terms of technical and care skills”, he concluded.
Engineer Patrício Quingongo lamented the fact that oil production is still carried out mainly by foreign personnel.
In an organization of the Industrial Polytechnic Institute of Luanda (IPIL), final year students from the five courses taught at the institution participated in the Workshop, namely civil construction, electronics, electricity and communications, IT, mechanics and chemistry.
