Africa-Press – Angola. The secretary of the Social Renewal Party (PRS) in Cuando Cubango, Samuel Messene, said that the current economic context requires the Executive to adopt policies aimed at ensuring the purchasing power of essential products in the basic basket.

The politician was speaking this Friday, in Menongue, during the V Ordinary meeting of the PRS Provincial Committee, in which he was re-elected, as the only candidate, for a five-year term.

According to Samuel Messene, prices are currently below purchasing power in general, hence the need to combat inflation, aiming to reduce the prices of basic goods and services, for the benefit of the population’s well-being.

Taking into account that Cuando Cubango has arable soil, Samuel Messene requested from the provincial government the need to increasingly provide peasant families with appropriate seeds and equipment to promote agricultural activity, in order to achieve self-sufficiency. food in the province and beyond.

In this way, the secretary maintains, it will help to recover families’ purchasing power and reduce imports of basic necessities.

The secretary advocated, on the occasion, the importance of implementing the creation of local authorities, in order to better ensure the development of municipalities, especially in Cuando Cubango, depending on the future Political – Administrative Division, which is expected to be two provinces.

Meanwhile, he praised the Executive’s initiative in adopting the law of the aforementioned division, as it will also promote the balanced development of the territory, bring public services closer to citizens and rationalize State administration services, increasing their effectiveness, efficiency and equity.

In the political field, he pointed to the mobilization of more activists for the party, aiming for its continued growth, as well as working on unity and cohesion.

Educating its members, with a view to committing themselves decisively to the tasks of social reconstruction, intelligently combating the characteristics of tribal, racial and regional domination, uniting all social layers and classes, is one of the party’s challenges.

At the meeting, 30 delegates were elected who will participate in the PRS congress, in Luanda, to be held from the 2nd to the 4th of April.
