Africa-Press – Angola. The inspector general of State Administration (IGAE), João Manuel Francisco, urged, this Monday, in this city, public servants to work to satisfy collective needs.
According to João Francisco, who was speaking to the press, after a meeting with the provincial governor of Benguela, Luís Nunes, even in a phase of economic containment, civil servants must dedicate themselves to their work, be zealous and loyal to their hierarchical superiors.
Along the same path, he defended respect for ethics in relationships with citizens, especially the duty of urbanity, “where they sometimes fail”, and the satisfaction of their needs to guarantee a fairer society.
The inspector recognized, however, that mistakes are part of humanity. “What should not exist is bad faith, conscious error with the aim of harming or damaging the interests of citizens”, he said.
“A plural, democratic society must be attentive to problems and seek to remind public servants of their role in ensuring the public interest, creating a spirit of trust, and not an environment of fear, ridicule or demotivation”, he asserted.
“Acting ethically has to do with respect for legality”, he said, adding that “those who work must be respected and those who make mistakes must be corrected and accept their mistakes”.
“It is in times of difficulty that we must all overcome problems,” he added.
Asked about IGAE’s relationship with the Attorney General’s Office and other justice administration bodies, the inspector advocates the need for each institution to work according to its competences, without interference.
João Manuel Francisco recently worked in the provinces of Cuando Cubango, Huíla, Cunene and Namibe, where he also sought to learn about the functioning of IGAE and provided guidelines for streamlining its activities.
In Benguela, the inspector general of State Administration will participate, this Tuesday (19), in a lecture on “Ethics in Public Administration”, which will also include several public servants, judicial entities and guests.
