Africa-Press – Angola. Angolan writer Bula Mbungue appealed, this Tuesday, in the city of Saurimo (Lunda-Sul), to art creators to register their works, in order to have legal legitimacy over them and avoid plagiarism.
The writer spoke about “author’s rights” during a reflection on the state of literature and other creativity in the province of Lunda-Sul, a theme included in World Book and Author’s Rights Day.
According to Bula Mbungue, copyright registration is carried out at the National Library, as long as artists comply with standards, originality and creativity.
He said that it guarantees protection of choreographies, plastic works, translation of drawings, texts, videos, books, music, among others.
Bull Mbungue explained that the author’s right is divided into two parts, one being patrimonial and the other moral.
The reflection brought together a hundred people, including writers, musicians, visual artists and other art lovers.
On the occasion, the president of the Young Literature Brigade in Lunda-Sul, Hélio Sangula, said that reading is the fundamental basis for acquiring solid knowledge, a true stimulus for expanding intellect and helping to improve vocabulary.
World Book and Copyright Day aims to encourage reading and honor great authors, such as William Shakespeare and Miguel de Cervantes. The date was chosen by UNESCO.
