The traditional authorities of the commune of Calima, in the municipality of Huambo, expressed their expectation with the works of the Integrated Plan for Intervention in Municipalities (PIIM), currently underway, in the sectors of Health, Education, Energy and Water, and repair of roads. of access, emphasizing that, when completed, they will contribute to the improvement of social conditions in the locality.

Rogério Epalanga, mayor of Vilavi village, told this Monday that some PIIM works will alleviate the difficulties of the populations, with emphasis on the supply of water and medical and drug assistance, stressing that he is aware that the problems are not solved all at once.

“The inauguration of several social projects will soon improve the living conditions of the inhabitants, reducing some constraints related to the supply of water and medical assistance. Therefore, we call for actions of this kind to be extended to other communities, for the good of everyone,” he urged.

In turn, the municipal administrator of Calima underlined that the various PIIM works, launched by the Government, will allow, in the near future, to serve the populations of rural communities, in terms of health services, no longer traveling long distances in search of medical and drug assistance.

Manuel Tomás George said that eight actions are included in the program, four of which are being physically implemented. It involves the construction of a school, with seven classrooms, a health centre, water collection and distribution systems and the rehabilitation of access roads between the Calima communal seat and the village of Vilavi.

The works of the Integrated Plan for Intervention in the Municipalities (PIIM), in the commune of Calima, generated hundreds of jobs, with emphasis on the young people of the district, engaged in the construction of schools, health units, water supply systems, rehabilitation of roads, bridges, among other social impact infrastructure.

The administrator Manuel Tomás George said that, at this time, the systems for capturing, distributing and treating water are being concluded, considered one of the priority projects for “people to stop consuming inappropriate water from the rivers”.
