Africa-Press – Angola. The National Police (PN) in Huíla was reinforced with 22 more patrol motorbikes, in order to improve the mobility of agents in the neighborhoods, in the process of preventing and combating crime.
The resources delivered over the weekend join the 49 received in 2022, in the months of February and November, in an initiative by the provincial government of Huíla.
Speaking after the delivery, the governor of Huíla, Nuno Mahapi, stated that it is a response to the concerns that the population has presented, as the difficulties “are immense”, the corporation also needs to be supported and this assistance comes whenever the financial conditions allow.
For the police to cover the province, said the governor, they must have adequate human and material resources, which is why they also intend to acquire some vehicles for the same purpose.
“Whenever the police request support from the Government of Huíla and we have the conditions, we respond, the most important thing is to have security conditions for the well-being of our families and to have public assets preserved”, he stated.
In turn, the provincial commander of the National Police, Commissioner Divaldo Martins, said that the priority is Lubango, taking into account that it represents, from the point of view of its density, a great territorial responsibility and because it is the one that represents the most challenges in terms of security.
He highlighted that with the existing motorcycles, combined with these, they will have a greater coverage capacity, especially in the interior of peripheral neighborhoods that are somehow the most needed.
He highlighted that motorbikes and moving vehicles provide better capacity from a prevention point of view, because we can be in various places and provide great capacity in terms of responding to the needs of citizens.
