Africa-Press – Angola. The President of the Republic, João Lourenço, held a private meeting this Tuesday in Seoul with his Korean counterpart, Yoon Suk-Yeo.
Soon after, the two statesmen led their delegations to official talks between both countries.
At the opening of the meeting, João Lourenço highlighted that, after 31 years of exchange and trade, the two States are in a position to enhance their cooperation, given the magnitude of their resources.
He said that there are many sectors in which this increase must begin, included in the agreements yet to be signed, as well as absorbing the steps taken by Korea, which has become a very developed country in a very short time.
Regarding the international situation, he called for respect for the United Nations Charter and congratulated the host on the peace prevailing on the Korean Peninsula.
On the other hand, the President of the Republic of Korea, Yoon Suk-Yeo, congratulated his interlocutor for the policies he has implemented in Angola since 2017.
He asked for synergies between Angola and Korea, considering that the former has abundant natural resources and a young population, while the latter has the technology and specialized labor.
Agreements
In the end, the two Heads of State witnessed the signing of four legal instruments, namely, the memoranda of understanding on Commerce, Health, Public Order and Diplomacy.
On the Angolan side, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Téte António, was a signatory, with the respective holders of the portfolios signing for Korea.
