Africa-Press – Angola. Angolan swimmers Henrique Mascarenhas and Salvador Gordo are the new absolute national records, in the 100 meters freestyle and mariposa, respectively, with times of 52 seconds and 82 tenths and 54 seconds and 73 tenths.
Living in England, Mascarenhas reached, last Sunday, the mark in the national championship of this country, while Salvador Gordo did so at the Meeting International in Stockholm, Sweden.
The previous record in the 100 meters freestyle was 52s:96d, timed by Pedro Pinotes, in 2011.
Salvador improved its previous mark (55:06), also obtained at the Stockholm Meeting.
The two are part of the “cream” of the best national swimmers working abroad, in a list that includes, among others, Daniel Francisco, Mário Ervedosa, Catarina Sousa, Maria Freitas, Pinotes and Lia Lima.
