The Secretary of State for Social Action announced that 53 Integrated Social Action Centers have been implemented in the country, providing social support to more than 18,000 people in various services, with emphasis on access to Education, Health, birth registration and issuance of Identity Card
More than thirty thousand families in a situation of vulnerability, in a total of 151,185 people covered, were supported by Social Action during the past year, with food and other basic necessities.
The data were made public yesterday in Luanda by the Secretary of State for Social Action, Lúcio do Amaral, during the opening of the 2nd Multisectoral Meeting for the Elaboration of the Action Plan for the Strategy and Operation of the National Social Action Policy.
According to Lúcio do Amaral, 1,103 people affected by calamities and accidents were also supported with basic food baskets, of which 863 were disabled, who also received different types of technical support.
He added that, in the Social Action information and management system, there are currently 45,209 registered households, corresponding to 111,437 people, which will make it possible to avoid duplication of support and make the data migrate to the Single Social Registry.
Lúcio do Amaral said that the municipalization project was underway, which aims to implement the new paradigm of Social Action, bringing social services closer to the vulnerable population.

The Secretary of State said that, despite the current socio-economic context, aggravated by the Covid-19 pandemic, the Ministry of Social Action, Family and Women Promotion (MASFAMU) has implemented productive inclusion and income generation projects, with the promotion of 40 cooperatives in the areas of cutting and sewing, agriculture, pastry, cooking, decoration, plastic collection, soap production and others, involving 34,000 citizens.
Present at the meeting, as a partner of MASFAMU in the elaboration of strategies and operationalization of national Social Action policies, the representative of the United Nations, Andrea Antonelli, highlighted the need for the meeting for the consistent, sustainable and inclusive execution of support actions for families angolan
“The success of the first multisectoral meeting allowed the establishment of a technical group, which has been playing an important role in the development and improvement of synergies between the main actors of social protection in Angola”, said Andrea Antonelli.
He reaffirmed the support of the United Nations system in the Government’s efforts, in collaboration with the European Union and other partners, aimed at the implementation, at national level, of measures and social protection system for the population.
He highlighted the importance of building paths for the eradication of poverty in all forms and places, as well as improving people’s lives as objective number 1 of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
The three-day meeting aims to assess data collected in the diagnosis of social protection, create conditions for each citizen to exercise their social and economic rights and provide training on the methodology of national dialogue based on the assessment.
Informal Economy
Twenty million euros were made available by the European Union (EU) to finance the social project aimed at formalizing families in an informal market situation.
According to the head of EU Cooperation in Angola, Manuela Navarro, the funding will be done in stages, according to social indicators.
Discussions were ongoing with the Angolan Government, which promptly got in touch with the EU headquarters, in Brussels, so that the project could be implemented by next month.
He mentioned that it is a project destined for Luanda, with plans to expand to other provinces.
