Africa-Press – Angola. José Cochofel, an Angolan swimmer assigned to the Clube Náutico da Ilha de Luanda (CNIL), misses the National Championships by categories, on the 29th and 30th of this month, at the Alvalade Swimming Pool.
The absence of the sprinter from the National Team could influence the performance of the team that plans to rescue the title lost in favor of 1.o de Agosto two seasons ago.
“José Chochofel will be one of the main casualties in the senior men’s team. The athlete transferred abroad for academic reasons. He will be missed, but we will move forward with those present and fight with all our strength to reach the top places and the highest number of possible medals”, declared CNIL head coach, Carlos Alberto.
Asked about the work strategy to face the opponents, taking into account the team’s absence, he said: “We continue with our heads held high, we roll up our sleeves and work full steam ahead with the stones available.”
The national championships feature the participation of one hundred and a half swimmers, in both classes, from the categories of cadets, children, youth, junior, senior and master, representing the Clube Náutico da Ilha de Luanda, 1.o de Agosto , Clube Naval de Luanda, Onda Sport Clube, Clube de Natação de Luanda, Clube Barracudas de Luanda, Clube RV Swimming and Academia da Nossa Senhora da Anunciação.
