Africa-Press – Angola. At every stage of life, there will always be a new beginning. A transitional phase between the past, the present, and the future.

Michael Garbatchev, former Russian President, said before the United Nations, “Life forces us to abandon the stereotypes of outdated ideas”; in addition to this, other quotes, such as the beautiful way of Jacques Le Goff, to describe the changes, when he said history is like Heraclitus’ man who never bathes twice in the same river (History of Political Ideas Volume I, by Marcel Prélot and Georges Lescuyer).

What’s happening in Angola, under President João Lourenço’s leadership, is a new beginning. We should be thankful that the President quickly realized what needed to be done to avoid reaching the peak of chaos due to the direction the country was taking…

The reported cases of corruption and the amount of money that was diverted from state coffers clearly demonstrate the direction the country was heading in… And today we know who the people are who most plundered public funds for the private sector.

Impunity was so great that by mentioning a person’s name, many could act illegally without the authorities bothering them.

What President João Lourenço has done and continues to do, in addition to reconciling with the past, is to put things in order, restore legality, solidify the democratic rule of law, and build a nation in which everyone sees themselves.

Starting over is like this: you have to cut certain things to correct the error, or to identify the flaw. Even if it weren’t done by human will, it would be done by the force of life’s dynamics. As I quoted above, the former Russian President said, “Life forces us to abandon the stereotypes of outdated ideas.” It was the experienced who admitted a paradigm shift; even though they were victorious in the war! Because they knew that resisting it would be fatal and lethal.

We must applaud President João Lourenço’s initiatives to acknowledge the past and commit to the present and future, so that our children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren don’t go through what we are going through. To prevent this from happening, a change in government paradigm was necessary.

It was necessary to be committed to the people, the country, and its development—something he has been practicing since a young age.

It takes courage to change; President João Lourenço had and still has it.

You have to have the will to do it; President João Lourenço had and still has it.

It takes commitment to acknowledge and reconcile the past with the present; President João Lourenço was and remains committed.

One must be patriotic to love Angola and its people; President João Lourenço is a true patriot, having been involved in this struggle since a young age; his parents and siblings participated directly in the achievement of the independence we all enjoy today.

In addition to these qualities, President João Lourenço has others.

It’s not flattery as many say; it’s just well-deserved recognition.

Anyone who doesn’t recognize President João Lourenço’s achievements is blindfolded and doesn’t have the ability to think in the short, medium, or long term. They only think about what they eat today, without worrying about what their son or grandson might eat tomorrow.
