Africa-Press – Angola. China has said it is willing to provide more funding to Angola to aid it to implement important projects in the country, its ambassador to this Southern African nation, Zhang Bin said Friday in Luanda.
Speaking to the press after an audience granted to him by the Angolan president, João Lourenço, the Chinese diplomat said the two governments agreed to further deepen cooperation in all areas, with emphasis on the economic and commercial sectors.
“Our cooperation is mainly focused on building infrastructure and also on investments in the agricultural, industrial and mineral sectors,” the diplomat said, adding that China already has several Chinese investment projects in agriculture and industry and intends to continue promoting them.
Regarding Angola’s debt to China, the head of the diplomatic mission said it is part of the bilateral economic and trade relations.
“So there is no debt problem between our countries. China is willing to grant more funding to Angola, with a view to implementing important projects,” the ambassador said.
Diplomatic relations between Angola and China date back to Angola’s pre-independence. They are currently based on an emerging commercial relationship.
Angola is China’s second largest trading partner in Africa with a total turnover of more than 24.8 billion dollars.
This partnership is based on equality and mutually beneficial benefits, as well as contributing to Angola’s development.
The two countries are strategic partners, with political-diplomatic relations and cooperation that have grown significantly since 2000, leading to the signing of various legal instruments in the social, commercial and business fields.
