Africa-Press – Angola. Angola participated, in New York, United States of America, in a Google meeting that brought together leaders from the international community to discuss the challenges of Artificial Intelligence (AI).
The country was represented at this event, held on the sidelines of the United Nations Future Summit, by the Minister of Telecommunications, Information Technologies and Social Communication, Mário Oliveira, who discussed the challenges in this area with some leaders.
The event served to discuss the global opportunities and implications of AI-powered technologies, while exploring how AI can help transform the work of the United Nations and drive progress towards the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development Goals.
The event, held on Sunday, was attended by James Manyika, Google’s senior vice president for Research, Technology and Society, Amina Mohammed, deputy secretary-general of the United Nations, and Felix Mutati, Zambia’s minister of technology and science, as well as other leaders from the international community.
Artificial Intelligence (AI) was one of the topics highlighted at the Future Summit, and was included in the Pact for the Future, a document approved by world leaders on the second day of the meeting that ended yesterday at the United Nations headquarters. The topic is referenced in the Digital Pact, which marks the first global agreement on the international regulation of Artificial Intelligence, and is based on the idea that technology should benefit everyone.
The document outlines commitments to ensure that digital technologies contribute to sustainable development and human rights, as well as addresses risks such as digital exclusion, cybersecurity and misuse of Artificial Intelligence.
