Africa-Press – Angola. The plenary session of the National Assembly will proceed, on the 31st of this month, to the discussion and voting of the bill on the Definition of the Regime Applicable to Price Regulation and the Legal Regime that defines Electromobility. The information was provided by the 1st secretary of the National Assembly, Manuel Lopes Dembo, at the end of the conference of the presidents of the parliamentary groups, led by the parliamentary leader, Carolina Cerqueira, which served to prepare the next plenary meeting.
Manuel Lopes Dembo also said that the plenary will consider and vote on the Draft Resolution that approves, for ratification, the Agreement establishing the Africa Finance Corporation.
The State General Budget Execution reports, referring to the 1st and 2nd quarter of 2024, must be assessed within the scope of the control and inspection competence of the National Assembly.
At the end of the session, the Draft Resolution approving the Adjustment of the composition of the National Electoral Commission will be submitted for consideration by the deputies.
Regarding internal matters, the deputy said that the work plans of the specialized work committees and groups of resident deputies for the parliamentary year 2024 and 2025 will be approved.
Proposal analyzed by the Council of Ministers
The Executive, which analysed the proposed law this year, in the 3rd Ordinary Meeting, understands that, given the current stage of development of the national economy, characterised by visible challenges at the level of production, distortions in the market and failures in the distribution chain, the creation of an institutional mechanism for monitoring the prices of goods and services, aligned with the principles of market economy and healthy competition, will result in the gradual discontinuity of price regulation, in the long term.
Even so, the idea involves minimal State intervention in the economy, with greater space for self-regulation, growth and market efficiency, thus contributing to achieving economic stability, and not only, as well as improving the organization of the national economy and stimulating investment and development.
UNITA deputies’ stance condemned
The President of the National Assembly expressed her total dissatisfaction with the situations that occurred at the Solemn Plenary Meeting, on the occasion of the opening of this parliamentary year, led by the deputies of the UNITA parliamentary group.
The document issued by the conference of parliamentary group presidents considers such acts, directed at the President of the Republic, as Head of State, “less dignified”.
For this reason, the document states, the conference of presidents of parliamentary groups condemns such behavior and reiterates its commitment to promoting dialogue, parliamentary decorum and respect for the republican ethics of legitimately established institutions, for the continued defense of the basic principles of the Democratic State and the Rule of Law.
