Municipality Has Water Systems
Bearing in mind that Virei is one of the municipalities in Namibe province most affected by the drought, Archer Mangueira recalled that the Executive prioritized the construction of 39 new water systems, as well as the rehabilitation of another 19 previous ones that were practically unusable. In addition to these projects included in the PIIM, seven other water systems were also recovered, which made it possible to connect them to the agricultural poles. Additionally, the Government carried out an emergency plan to support the most needy populations, in the context of the drought, who benefited from food and other essential goods.
“All these are projects that have been carried out under the initiative and direction of President João Lourenço”, said the first provincial secretary of the MPLA, adding that his party is prioritizing employability policies, including production actions aimed at obtaining income for solving family problems.
In this area, 10 cooperatives were supported in Virei, from small industries, such as those linked to agriculture and poultry, which supported former soldiers, their widows and young people, and support structures were built for the productive sector, such as a warehouse to support farmers with agricultural equipment and inputs, as well as a slaughterhouse.
