Africa-Press – Angola. The governor of Cuanza-Sul pointed out, on Thursday, in the city of Sumbe, that government action for the current year will focus on the sectors of Education, Health, Agriculture, Tourism and Youth.
Speaking at the opening of the 1st meeting of the provincial government, Narciso Benedito said that an integrated approach was needed for the development of the province, highlighting the importance of municipal administrators’ role in implementing public policies.
About to mark 100 days since taking office, Narciso Benedito acknowledged that there were urgent challenges that needed to be addressed, but also opportunities that should be seized to transform potential into real wealth, in order to guarantee a new socioeconomic reality for the province. Regarding Education, the governor considered the sector to be the basis for development.
“We need to ensure an organized educational structure, with qualified teachers and adequate conditions for teaching”, he stated.
Regarding Health, the governor drew attention to the need to increase the population’s awareness of healthy practices, as well as to improve hospital infrastructures and ensure the population’s access to medical services. “We live in challenging times, where the well-being of the population depends on respecting health guidelines, and we need to ensure that our health services are prepared to meet the needs of medical and pharmaceutical assistance,” he stressed. He considered Tourism and Agriculture as other important drivers of the local economy.
