Africa-Press – Angola. The women’s futsal team got off to a good start in the first edition of the African Nations Championship by beating their counterparts from Guinea 5-2 in the first round of Group B. The Welwitchias came out confident and ready to play their game, even without any real knowledge of the Guineans’ worth, and in the first minute, Joyce, the team captain, scored the first goal.
However, the Guinean team, lacking great attributes and having some difficulties in interpreting some of the rules, did not give up and went for it. Always playing on their opponent’s mistakes, they scored the first goal in the sixth minute through Soumah, who took advantage of a distraction by pivot Judifat. With the goal scored, the Guinean team began to believe more. However, due to a lack of knowledge of the rules of futsal, the goalkeeper held the ball after a delay, which is considered an indirect free kick. Lurdinha was called to take the ball, and did so perfectly in the 12th minute. From that moment on, Angola imposed itself on the game and two minutes later, in a quick move, Bangoura, a Guinean player, scored an own goal in the 14th minute, closing the first half at 3-1.
In the second half, given the national team’s relaxation, the Guineans grew in the game and, taking advantage of a mistake in the Angolan defense, scored the second goal in the 32nd minute through Bangoura.
As the end of the match approached, the national team’s greater experience came to the fore. Joyce at 37′ and Djamila at 38′ closed the score, setting the final score at 5-2, making history as the first team to win the first African Nations Football Championship.Djamila Catombela, MVP of the match
Djamila Catombela, who scored the last goal for the National Team, was considered the most valuable player of the match. Playing in the Portuguese Championship for Sporting, she showed great skill, being fundamental in the construction of the victory together with the national team.
