Africa-Press – Angola. The Support Programme for Production, Export Diversification and Import Substitution (PRODESI) has financed around 307 business projects over the last four years, the national director for Economy and Business Development announced on Wednesday in Lubango.Alan Varela, who presented the results of the Government’s instrument to support national production to the business community, said that during the period in question, the projects financed were valued at 85 billion kwanzas.
Overall, PRODESI financed around 6,500 projects throughout the country, with disbursements of over 1.5 billion kwanzas.
Around 50 percent of this amount covered the national industrial sector and 26 percent automatically went to agriculture.
Jobs created
The financing and promotion of these projects, as a result of the credit granted, generated 104 thousand permanent jobs. He said that the first focus of the program is to increase production and productivity, and the second is access to credit, which is the most important part of financing the economy.Alan Varela said that he also boosted access to the domestic market and trained entrepreneurs to manage business projects.
“We were able to see that, in 2019, we had a result of 137 thousand tons. Last year, we obtained 333 thousand. Therefore, we had a relatively satisfactory result with 100 percent of contracts”, he said.
The official highlighted the role of the Credit Guarantee Fund, which has already issued 4,274 guarantees for 6,300 projects, for a total value of 486 billion kwanzas.
