Africa-Press – Angola. The President of the Republic, João Lourenço, and the First Lady, Ana Dias Lourenço, paid tribute to Pope Francis this Saturday, bowing before the urn containing his body, in St. Peter’s Basilica.
The presidential couple observed the atmosphere of recollection that marked the day of farewell to the leader of the Catholic Church, showing respect and recognition for the great universal figure represented by Pope Francis.
João Lourenço and Ana Dias Lourenço have been in Rome since Friday to attend the funeral of the Supreme Pontiff at the Vatican. Delegations from all over the world, including Heads of State and Government, academics, artists, political leaders, former rulers, representatives of different religious denominations, cultures, philosophical currents and trends, in short, an unfathomable range of sensibilities, were present in Rome for the final farewell to one of the most notable Popes of our time, while millions of other people followed the event on global communication platforms.
