Africa-Press – Angola. Angola and the United States of America discussed, this Tuesday, in Luanda, the deepening of strategic relations in the commercial and economic domains. The approach was made during a meeting between the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, Esmeralda Mendonça, and the Chargé d’Affaires of the Embassy of the United States of America in Angola, Noah Zaring.
On the occasion, the two experts gave particular emphasis to the US-Africa Business Summit, scheduled for June this year, in Luanda, says a note sent Online.
For the North American diplomat, the Summit is a crucial space for investors from his country to present projects and initiatives of common interest.Noah Zaring highlighted the interest of the US government, under the leadership of President Donald Trump, in this process. He also reiterated his country’s willingness to formalise cooperation instruments in different areas of the economy, as a result of the aforementioned Summit, as well as humanitarian assistance and the sustainable progress of African countries. During the meeting, the two interlocutors also discussed the intensification of high-level exchanges of visits between the two States, which will serve as an instrument for consolidating political and diplomatic coordination. Political and diplomatic relations between Angola and the United States of America were formalised on 19 May 1993. Since 2002, initiatives have focused on promoting and strengthening democratic institutions, economic prosperity and improving public health. In December 2024, former Joe Biden, the then President of the United States of America, made the first visit by a US official to Angola.
