Africa-Press – Angola. Angola and Serbia will reinforce military cooperation in the field of staff training in the coming years, with a view to installing a Research and Technological Development Center in the country, announced yesterday in Luanda, the Secretary of State of the Ministry of Defense. for the Military Industry, Afonso Neto.

Afonso Neto provided the information after meeting with the co-chairman of the Serbian Joint Committee Commission, Aleksandar Zivkovic. “We will work so that, in the coming years, it is possible to consolidate cooperation between the two countries, with the aim of exploring fundamental scientific areas in the installation of a Center for Research and Technological Development in Angola”.

He added that the country is interested in deepening cooperation with the Military Technical Institute of the Ministry of Defense of Serbia, as it is a fundamental element to sustain the policy of development of the Angolan military industry.

The Secretary of State for Military Industry also wants greater pragmatism in the implementation of the cooperation program in the field of staff training. This program, he said, should contain actions that are feasible in the short term, mainly in the training of trainers who, as soon as possible, can strengthen military education institutions in Angola.

The Secretary of State and co-chairman of the Serbian Commission of the Joint Committee, Aleksandar Zivkovic, said that his country is ready to maintain this military cooperation with Angola, having guaranteed its availability to support the training of trainers. The talks took place within the scope of the 6th meeting of the Angola-Serbia Defense Cooperation Joint Committee, to be held in Luanda from the 19th to the 21st of this month.

Military Informed About General Elections
The national commissioner of the National Elections Commission (CNE), Manuel Camati, pointed out the importance of the Armed Forces in the electoral processes, in obedience to constitutional precepts, integrating its effective in an operational framework contextualized to the circumstances, “that is why its presence in the period pre-election, during and after the elections is necessary to guarantee the security of all stakeholders”.

Manuel Camati made it clear, in more direct terms, that the military must be present at all stages of the general elections. “As citizens, the military, in the pre-election phase, are called upon to update their registration, in the electoral phase, to exercise their right to vote, and, in the post-election phase, they must continue to guarantee security and stability. of people, goods and institutions”, he underlined.

The national commissioner of the CNE gave technical explanations to personnel from the Angolan Armed Forces (FAA), at the Escola Superior de Guerra, in Luanda, during a lecture on “The military and the 2022 elections – rights and duties”, held at the on Tuesday, following the Days of Exaltation and Patriotic Education, which are taking place throughout the country. -President of the Republic and deputies to the National Assembly.
