Africa-Press – Angola. The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Téte António, met this Wednesday afternoon in Luanda with a delegation from the African Union Development Agency – New Partnership for Africa’s Development (AUDA-NEPAD), led by the Executive Director, Nardos Bekele-Thomas. During the meeting, the entities focused on strengthening cooperation between Angola and AUDA-NEPAD, with a focus on the implementation of Agenda 2063 and concrete measures for the operationalization of the African Union Development Fund (AUDF), according to the MIREX press release.

The Fund, the note highlights, is a transformative instrument designed to strengthen Africa’s financial sovereignty and support the accelerated implementation of the continent’s development objectives.

Nardos Bekele-Thomas highlighted the role of the AUDF as an innovative mechanism to mobilize domestic and external financial resources in order to reduce dependence on foreign financing and promote Africa’s economic self-reliance.

In turn, the Angolan Minister of Foreign Affairs highlighted the need to accelerate the operationalization of the fund through mechanisms that ensure its financial sustainability.

Angola, as the host country of the President of the African Union, João Lourenço, has committed to leading efforts to raise awareness among other member states about joining the AUDF.
