Africa-Press – Angola. Since Saturday, the visual artist Mário Tendinha has been participating with two works of art in the collective exhibition called “Colores sinfronteras” in the city of Fuengirola, Spain. Mário Tendinha explained that he is present in “Colores sinfronteras” through the GensArte Association, of which he is a member.

The artist said that it is always very interesting to have this international connection and to take Angolan art to other countries. “It is an honour to receive this invitation, because in a way it helps us to show our creation and creativity to the world”, he said.

In addition to this exhibition, yesterday he participated in another exhibition in Spain, in Conil de La Frontera, a meeting of contemporary art with two works entitled “Despojadas” and “O mutá”.

Visual artist Mário Tendinha said that the works “Crash” and “Namibe deserttyamalundo”, exhibited on Saturday in the city of Fuengirola, as well as the paintings “Despojado” and “O mutá”, were all made of acrylics on canvas and in different sizes. “The paintings Crash and Namibe deserttyamalundo are creations made this year”.The artist began drawing and painting at the age of 18, heavily influenced by the modern trends of the time, pop music, hippies and social movements. Comics have been one of Tendinha’s passions since childhood and have left their mark on his work, which is reflected in the techniques and media used. The artist’s first solo exhibition was in 1972, in the province of Huambo.

In 1975, when South African troops invaded Angola, his home and studio in Lubango were robbed and completely vandalized, and from that date on, Mário Tendinha stopped painting. At the time, the artist dedicated himself to political life as an activist, he was also a trade unionist and later a company manager. Mário Tendinha returned to painting in 2000 and exhibited in 2003.
