Africa-Press – Angola. The Head of the 7th Committee of the National Assembly (AN), Conceição Faria, considered, in Luanda, a positive initiative by UNICEF with the “Kambas com Voz” project, focused on promoting community participation of children and young people.
Conceição Faria made these statements to the press, at the end of the hearings granted to the heads of UNICEF and DSTV (Multichoice), which served to present the programs, initiatives and challenges of these social institutions.
The member of parliament also highlighted the importance of the “Kambas com Voz” project, not only for encouraging civic participation of adolescents in their communities, but also for presenting proposals that can contribute to the social sector’s functional and organizational restructuring.
Conceição Faria also considered the hearing to be of great value and reaffirmed the Committee’s willingness to maintain an open and constructive dialogue with institutional partners, with a view to adopting more effective public policies.
He added that the event aims to promote young people’s professional skills linked to entrepreneurship and job creation.
According to the parliamentarian, the plan launched last year and which will benefit the training of young people in China is one of UNICEF’s tangible results, within the framework of its strategic plan.
According to the official, they are encouraged by the fact that the aforementioned institution is presenting job creation opportunities’ measures and strategies, as well as programs to promote initiatives aimed at youth participation in their own communities.
He acknowledged that UNICEF has been a key international partner of the Angolan State for decades, highlighting these positive aspects and that the 7th Commission will continue to interact positively with this body, especially to find measures that help reconfigure the operational, organizational and functional structure of the National Youth Institute.
The “Kambas com Voz” initiative is a platform designed to amplify the voices of young people and ensure their active participation in decision-making processes.
In addition to promoting inclusion, it also reinforces the legitimacy of decisions, ensuring that they are more innovative and relevant to the needs of young people.
During the hearing, DSTV officials presented the challenges they currently face in the market, as well as the set of programs and initiatives that they have been implementing throughout the country.
