Africa-Press – Angola. Arlindo das Chagas Rangel, the CEO of the Private Investment and Export Promotion Agency (AIPEX), announced on Thursday in Lisbon that a total of 129 Portuguese investment projects were registered in Angola between 2019 and 2024, valued at 690 million US dollars.
Rangel, who is part of the Angolan presidential delegation on an official visit to Portugal, indicated that most of the investments were directed towards the services, construction, and industrial sectors.
As part of the three-day visit, the Angolan head of state will meet with Portuguese businesspeople on Friday to strengthen economic cooperation and attract new investments.
Speaking to the Angolan press, Rangel said that the figures do not yet reflect the potential of the economic partnership between the two countries.
“We believe that this number does not reflect the level of closeness between Portugal and Angola. We would like to see more investment in value-added sectors,” he said.
He emphasized that the dialogue with Portuguese businesspeople aims to showcase Angola’s opportunities, highlighting its openness to foreign investment and progress in the business environment, particularly regarding legal certainty and streamlined processes.
Rangel added that the Angolan government is committed to attracting more Portuguese companies and creating conditions that allow them to operate and hire locally. This will contribute to strengthening and diversifying the national economy.
