Africa-Press – Angola. Angolan President João Lourenço emphasized on Friday the intensity and depth of the relationship between Angola and Portugal in a message inscribed in the Book of Honor of the Presidency of the Portuguese Republic.

“In just over a year, I return to this Palace, which clearly illustrates the intensity and depth of relations between Angola and Portugal,” wrote the Angolan head of state, referring to the frequency of high-level bilateral meetings.

In his note, Lourenço reaffirmed both countries’ joint commitment to transforming opportunities into concrete actions that positively impact the strengthening of cooperation and the fulfillment of their respective peoples’ aspirations.

“Our two countries are constantly alert to every opportunity, identifying and transforming them into concrete actions aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation and realizing our peoples’ aspirations for progress, development, and well-being,” noted the Angolan president.

The inscription marked the beginning of the official program of the visit, which started with a reception for the Angolan president at Belém Palace. There, he was welcomed by his Portuguese counterpart, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, and they held a private meeting.

President João Lourenço’s visit to Portugal is part of the deepening diplomatic, economic, and cultural relations between the two countries, which are united by historical and linguistic ties.

The Angolan statesman has been in Portugal since Thursday for a three-day official visit. Relations of cooperation between Angola and Portugal have gained new momentum, with an emphasis on areas such as the economy, education, health, infrastructure, and tourism.
