Africa-Press – Angola. Amendments to electoral legislation, definitively approved on Wednesday by unanimous vote of members of the National Assembly, maintain the voter card as a valid document for voting until 2027 and eliminate summary minutes during the general elections in Angola.

The text of the new legislation determines that legible copies of the minutes of the polling station, before being delivered to the list delegates and posted at the polling station, must be signed and stamped by their chairperson.

The introduction of improvements to the elements of the minutes of the table are among the innovations contained in the new Organic Law on General Elections.

During the presentation of the explanation of vote, the parliamentarian of the Humanist Party of Angola (PHA) Fernando Dinis said that they voted in favor of the rule because they understand that these changes bring improvements in the organization and transparency of the electoral process.

The president of the PRS party, Benedito Daniel, stressed that the bill received their favorable vote, as it is a document that is governed by constitutional rules, which must be changed in space and time, whenever circumstances so require.

For her part, UNITA parliamentarian Mihaela Webba said that the approved law was consensual among the members of the National Assembly, so that in the next electoral election there will be no constraints.

For MPLA parliamentarian João Martins, the serene, serious, objective and assertive dialogue in the debates in the specialty led the Parliamentary Group to vote in favor of the bills that were under discussion.

During the session, parliamentarians also approved amendments to the Organic Law on the Organization and Functioning of the National Electoral Commission (CNE) and the Law on Unofficial Electoral Registration.

On the agenda of the Wednesday session, there was also the movement of members in the parliamentary groups of UNITA and MPLA in the Permanent Commission of the AN.

Also,the National Assembly members discussed two requests, proposed by the parliamentary groups of the MPLA and UNITA, related to public security, during which they condemned the acts of vandalism carried out by some citizens, between the 28th, 29th and 31st of July, in various regions of the country, in the framework of the taxi drivers” strike.
