Africa-Press – Angola. The African Union (AU) chairman and Angolan Head of State, João Lourenço, will travel to Japan on Saturday (16) to participate in the 9th edition of Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD9).
According to the Secretary for Institutional Affairs and Press of the President of the Republic, Luís Fernando, the event, to be held next week, will take place in Yokohama, with the presence of several other African heads of state and government.
The conference is jointly organized by the Japanese government, the African Union, the United Nations, and the World Bank, with the participation of partners from the private sector and civil society.
Luis Fernando explained that TICAD is the mechanism through which Japan seeks to promote the development of the African continent.
In this new edition, the Angolan Head of State will have “a significant participation” due to his role as the current leader of the African Union, he said. The Yokohama event is themed “People, Planet and Prosperity in a Changing World.”
