Africa-Press – Angola. On Saturday, in Algiers, Algeria, Secretary of State for Trade and Services, Augusta Fortes, reinforced Angola’s commitment to expanding and strengthening trade relations with African countries, aiming to overcome remaining barriers.

She was speaking at a roundtable discussion on “Intra-African Trade: From Vision to Reality – Towards a Multiplication of Trade Exchanges by 2030,” part of the fourth edition of the Intra-African Trade Fair (IATF), which has been taking place since the 4th in the Algerian capital.

She emphasized Angola’s commitment to reducing bureaucracy through simplified administrative processes and procedures.

According to Augusta Fortes, one of the aspects that continues to “hinder” intra-African trade is the high cost of importing raw materials between countries, and therefore advocated a different approach for greater continental economic cooperation.

During her speech, the Angolan official also spoke of the country’s commitment to logistics trade through the Lobito Corridor, representing an opportunity for the continent, in addition to the country’s agricultural potential, which requires more private investment.

Regarding the event, she said it is crucial for businesspeople to diversify their partnerships, focusing more on the opportunities that the continent has to offer.

During the roundtable, issues related to facilitating intra-African trade, removing technical and tariff barriers to trade, and developing regional production value chains were discussed, in alignment with the Agri-Plan of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).The Intra-African Trade Fair, the continent’s largest business exchange, is held biennially by the African Union Commission, the Secretariat of the African Continental Free Trade Area, and Afreximbank.

The event, which closes on the 10th, is a global event aimed at promoting African trade and investment worldwide.

The 2025 edition brings together approximately two thousand exhibitors from various countries.

The Angolan delegation includes companies from various sectors, representatives from the Angolan Private Investment and Export Promotion Agency (AIPEX), and the Ministries of Industry and Commerce, as well as Foreign Affairs.
