Portuguese Audiovisual Institute Recognizes Growth of Angolan Cinema

Africa-Press – Angola. The president of the Portuguese Film and Audiovisual Institute, Luís Pinheiro, acknowledged the growth of Angolan cinema and the stabilization of production with new generations of artists this Monday in Luanda.

He spoke at the end of his dissertation on “Financing in the Audiovisual Sector,” at an event held in celebration of World Audiovisual Heritage Day, celebrated.

According to him, Angola is making a huge effort in film production, a fact that has sparked interest among young Angolans in investing more in the sector.

“There are already young Angolans who want to produce their own films and have a public policy in the field of cinema in Angola. I already see the future of cinema in this country with great optimism,” he emphasized.

He also said that the lecture served to share with Angolan artists and filmmakers the 53-year experience of the Portuguese Audiovisual Film Institute, its struggles, evolution, and current status.

World Audiovisual Heritage Day is celebrated on October 27th to raise awareness about the importance of preserving films, radio and television programs, and other audiovisual documents.

The date, established by UNESCO in 2005, highlights the urgent need to protect these records, which are fundamental to the collective memory and cultural identity of nations.
