Angolan Head of State Arrives in New York for the UN General Assembly

Africa-Press – Angola. Angolan President João Lourenço arrived in New York on Saturday to participate in the high-level week of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly.

The United Nations summit is taking place under the theme “Rebuilding Trust and Reviving Global Solidarity: Accelerating Action on the 2030 Agenda and its Sustainable Development Goals, Towards Peace, Prosperity and Sustainability for All.”

The Angolan Head of State, accompanied by the First Lady Ana Dias Lourenço, will address the assembly’s general debate this Monday, the first day of the session, where he will reaffirm Angola’s commitment to peace, multilateralism, and sustainable development.

President João Lourenço is participating in the event in his dual capacity as Angolan Head of State and African Union Chairperson.

During his stay in New York, President João Lourenço will hold bilateral meetings with counterparts from different regions and participate in high-level meetings on climate change and development financing.
