Huawei Plans Research and Development Center in Angola

Africa-Press – Angola. The Chinese multinational Huawei plans to establish a Research and Development Center in Angola by 2027, as part of its commitment to digital transformation and universal access to technology in the country.

This information was announced on Thursday in Luanda by Huawei’s general director for Portuguese-speaking countries, António Hou, following an audience granted by the Angolan Head of State to Huawei’s president for the Sub-Saharan Africa region, Hover Gao.

During the meeting held at the Presidential Palace, questions were raised regarding the multinational’s projects in Angola.

According to António Hou, the goal is to strengthen digital inclusion and accelerate the development of strategic sectors such as education, healthcare, and connectivity, promoting equitable access to new technologies.

“We believe that technology should not be a privilege for the few. We will continue to contribute to Angola achieving universal internet access and the benefits of digital transformation,” he stated.

The new center, whose location is still under assessment, is part of Huawei’s strategy to expand its presence in Africa.
