Africa-Press – Angola. The third Summit on Financing for Infrastructure Development in Africa to take place on October 28 to 31 in Luanda, is expected to mobilize up to 160 billion US dollars to address the current funding gap for the construction of structural projects on the continent.

The information was disclosed Wednesday by Arlindo Rangel, CEO of the Private Investment and Export Promotion Agency (AIPEX), during a press conference held by the Technical Support Group for the Commission responsible for preparing, coordinating, and organizing the event.

Rangel said Angola will present 16 structural projects over four days, linked to the transport and logistics, renewable energy, and technology sectors, with emphasis on the Lobito Corridor and port infrastructure.

Co-hosted by the Government of Angola and the African Union Development Agency (AUDA-NEPAD), the event will bring together more than 2,000 delegates, including Heads of State, ministers, representatives of financial institutions, and other guests from within and outside the continent.

Carlos dos Santos, Minister of Public Works, Urbanism, and Housing, explained that the initiative, held under the Angolan presidency of the African Union, aims to promote public-private partnerships, share best practices, and boost sustainable investment in critical infrastructure.

The minister said it will also serve to showcase the country’s efforts in infrastructure rehabilitation and expansion, in alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals and the African Union’s Agenda 2063.

The third summit on Financing for Infrastructure Development in Africa includes thematic sessions, business forums, and bilateral meetings, bringing together policymakers, experts, and investors. It will also take stock of the last summit, held in Dakar, Senegal, in 2023.

It will culminate with the adoption of the Luanda Political Declaration, a document that will reinforce the commitment to developing structural projects on the continent.
