Africa-Press – Angola. Angolan government will continue to promote a modern and competitive business environment, relying on the strength of the private sector as a driver of economic growth and job creation in the country, the Minister of State for Economic Coordination José de Lima Massano said Wednesday in Oslo, Norway.
Speaking at a roundtable organized by the Angolan embassy in Norway on the topic of “Building Lasting Partnerships and Creating Business Opportunities Between Angola and Norway,” the minister reaffirmed Angola’s commitment to maintaining a favorable environment for private investment with macroeconomic stability, legal certainty, and competitive incentives.
Massano invited Norwegian investors to participate in Angola’s ongoing economic transformation and praised the trust and cooperation between the two countries. He emphasized that bilateral relations are based on transparency, mutual benefit, and shared prosperity.
The minister recalled that Angola’s economic transformation and diversification process essentially relies on solid, institutionally modern macroeconomic management and the creation of sustainable investment opportunities.
He noted that the Angolan economy grew by 4.4% in 2024, marking its best performance in the last decade. This growth was driven by non-oil sectors, particularly agriculture, trade, construction, and diamonds. However, oil and gas remain the main sources of exports.
The minister said that Angola maintains a stable macroeconomic environment supported by approximately 15 billion U.S. dollars in international reserves, public debt below 60% of gross domestic product (GDP), and a prudent fiscal policy. These factors reinforce the confidence of international investors.
Angola’s participation in this forum is part of the country’s strategy to strengthen economic diplomacy, promote private investment, and deepen strategic partnerships with the Nordic countries, particularly the Kingdom of Norway, in the areas of economics, energy, and technology.
