Luanda Hosts 6Th Meeting of CPLP Ministers of the Interior

Africa-Press – Angola. The city of Luanda will host the 6th meeting of ministers of the Interior and Internal Administration of the Community of Portuguese-Speaking Countries (CPLP) from Monday to the 31st of this month.

According to a press release sent Sunday, the event is under the theme “The Challenges of Internal Security within the Framework of the Implementation of the Agreement on Mobility among CPLP Member States.”

The meeting will bring together delegations from the nine CPLP member states, namely Angola, Brazil, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Equatorial Guinea, Mozambique, Portugal, São Tomé and Príncipe, and Timor-Leste.

According to the organizers, the meeting aims to analyze aspects related to security and internal order, as well as strengthen multilateral cooperation in preventing and combating transnational crime, border security, and citizen mobility within the CPLP.

It is part of the community’s statutes and serves as an important forum for consultation and experience-sharing among the countries that make up the Portuguese-speaking world, in a global context increasingly marked by challenges to internal security.

The Community of Portuguese-Speaking Countries (CPLP), created on July 17, 1996, is a privileged multilateral forum for deepening friendship and cooperation among its members.

Its main objectives include political and diplomatic consultation, cooperation in various areas, such as education, health, science and technology, defense, justice, culture, public security, and social communication, as well as the promotion and dissemination of the Portuguese language.
