Africa-Press – Angola. Angola and Saudi Arabia are taking decisive steps to conclude a Bilateral Air Services Agreement, the Angolan Minister of Transport, Ricardo Viegas de Abreu announced Wednesday, in Geneva.
The Minister, who was speaking on the sidelines of a ministerial round table as part of the 16th United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), said that he had the opportunity to meet with the Minister of Transport and Logistics of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
He explained that the meeting will allow the opening of a direct connection between Luanda and Riyadh, a fundamental milestone in the expansion of air connectivity and the affirmation of Angola as a “logistics and transport hub” between Africa and the world.
He stressed that the dialogue with his Saudi counterpart confirmed the shared desire to deepen cooperation in the transport, logistics and civil aviation sectors, through a future memorandum of cooperation that strengthens technical and institutional relations.
According to Ricardo de Abreu, participation in the ministerial round table “Towards Resilient, Sustainable, and Inclusive Supply Chains and Trade Logistics” was also an opportunity to project Angola’s vision on the future of global logistics chains.
‘I argued that resilience and sustainability require African leadership, innovation and modern infrastructure, capable of connecting people, goods and opportunities. Angola today has the experience, ambition and determination necessary to be an active part of this continental and global transformation’, he highlighted.
He added that “Angola’s voice is heard with conviction”, as the future of global logistics chains passes through Africa, with Angola ready to lead this transformation.
