Africa-Press – Angola. Agricultural production in Angola grew six per cent in the past eight years, thus reaching now 19% of the total national productive capacity, confirmed on Friday (24) in Camanongue, eastern Moxico Province, the Minister of State for Economic Co-ordination, José de Lima Massano.

According to the source, in the last agricultural campaign, Angola increased its production to 8.5 per cent, having reached over 30 million tons of diverse products.

Speaking at the national act that served to open the 2025/2026 Agricultural Campaign, the government oficial stated that the agricultural sector presents an average annual growth rate of six per cent.

He reiterated that most Angolan families are engaged in agriculture, reason why the Executive has been focused on improving the support given to agricultural co-operatives.

Massano recognised that the country has many challenges to face, such as in the area of infrastructures, know-how, access to land, availability of inputs and financing for farmers.

He also stressed that the country’s agricultural production is already taking control of markets countrywide, including supermarkets, which is a sign that the country is on the path of food self-sufficiency.

“We have municipalities in which the supply is already beyond the local comsumption”, he asserted.

The formal national act that served to open the 2025/2026 Agricultural Campaign happened under the motto “Reconverting the agricultural systems into agri-food, as a guarantee of income, food and nutrutional security”.
