Africa-Press – Angola. The Angolan head of state and chairperson of the African Union (AU), João Lourenço discussed on Tuesday in Luanda, infrastructure development issues in Africa with representatives of various African governments.

On the sidelines of opening of the 3rd Summit on Financing for Infrastructure Development in Africa, President João Lourenço met with the Algerian Council President, Azouz Nasri, and the Burundian Prime Minister, Nestor Ntahontuye, in separate meetings.

Lourenço also met with the Egyptian Deputy Prime Minister, Kamel Al-Wazir, and the Congolese Minister of State, Jean-Jacques Bouya, to discuss ways to strengthen cooperation and promote regional integration projects.

These four African leaders are among the guests participating in the forum, which runs until October 31 in Luanda.

The event brings together government officials, investors, and experts to discuss promoting public-private partnerships (PPPs), encouraging sustainable investment, and accelerating the Program for Infrastructure Development in Africa (PIDA), which prioritizes regional connectivity, digital transformation, and resilient urban development.

Participants will also outline new financing strategies for infrastructure development on the continent, with a special focus on Angola as the host country.

The summit aims to reinforce Africa’s commitment to the African Union’s Agenda 2063.
