Ambassador Miguel César Bembe, Angola’s Permanent Representative to the African Union (AU), stated that the commitment to biodiversity conservation represents a true reflection of the harmony between humankind and nature, as well as a pillar of the sovereignty of African peoples.

Biodiversity is, however, a vehicle that aligns ideas for consolidating proposals that will establish the guidelines for Africa’s positioning before the world in the defense of its natural heritage. The acting chairman of the AU Committee of Permanent Representatives also stated that the objective of the meeting is to rigorously prepare, with a sense of mission, the guiding documents and the summit declaration, ensuring that they reflect the African reality, its biological diversity, and the aspirations of its peoples.
