Africa-Press – Angola. Huambo – The interconnection of the National Electricity Transmission Network (RNT) between the provinces of the Central and Southern regions of Angola, starting from Huambo and Huíla, should be completed by November 11, announced the RNT CEO, Rui Gourgel.
The manager disclosed the information at the end of a meeting with the Vice-Governor of Huambo for the Political, Social and Economic sector, Angelino Elavoco.
“This project is nearing completion and we believe that, by November 11th, we will have the inauguration of this interconnection between the Central region and the Southern region, starting from the provinces of Huambo and Huíla,” Gourgel said.
Rui Gourgel added that the province of Namibe will also be connected, in addition to other ongoing actions that will also allow the connection of the province of Cubango and those in the east of the country.
He stated that the company’s objective is to interconnect the country’s 18 previous provinces in a national network by 2027, while the other three new ones, which emerged within the framework of the new political-administrative division, will be completed in 2030, although Icolo e Bengo is already interconnected.
For the manager, Angola still has an electrical potential to be explored and can become one of the points, in Southern and Central Africa, for supplying energy to other countries on the continent.
