Africa-Press – Angola. João Lourenço congratulated on Friday (12) the Kenyan Head of State, William Ruto, on the celebration of Kenya’s National Day.
In the message sent to his Kenyan counterpart and made public, the Angolan Head of State highlighted that Kenya occupies a prominent place in the concert of African nations, due to its economic and social achievements, as well as the environment of democratic stability that characterizes it, projecting it onto the world stage as a dynamic nation guided towards progress.
President João Lourenço also expressed his conviction that the relations of friendship and cooperation between Angola and Kenya will continue to be strengthened for the benefit of achieving common objectives in the economic and business fields, with tangible results.
Bilateral Cooperation
Angola and Kenya have intensified bilateral cooperation, focusing on strategic areas such as the economy, trade, agriculture, tourism, health, energy, diplomacy, and training.
This process is driven by the 2014 General Cooperation Agreement and multiple specific agreements signed in recent years, including visa exemptions for holders of ordinary passports.
The two countries aim to strengthen historical ties, leverage economic synergies, and expand trade and investment, with the collaboration of the public and private sectors.
On the diplomatic front, Angola and Kenya support each other in international forums.
Among the recent milestones of cooperation, the visit of President João Lourenço to Kenya in October 2023 stands out, resulting in the signing of 11 agreements, including visa exemption for ordinary passports.
In January 2025, President William Ruto made an official visit to Angola with the aim of aligning new strategies for bilateral cooperation.
Relations between Angola and Kenya date back to the colonial period, with meetings between leaders who supported the Angolan liberation movements.
