Africa-Press – Angola. The Speaker of the National Assembly, Adão de Almeida, met on Friday with the Algerian Ambassador to Angola, Mounir Bourouba, with whom he discussed issues related to bilateral cooperation in economic, social, and political fields.

Speaking to the press at the end of the meeting, the Algerian ambassador said that he had congratulated the parliamentary leader on his election.

The ambassador said the meeting allowed him to reiterate his satisfaction with the existing excellent cooperation between Angola and Algeria, which is based on the principles and values of the African Union (AU).

He emphasized Algeria’s readiness to revitalize and strengthen bilateral relations in all fields of interest, in accordance with the spirit of its foreign policy based on African integration and solidarity.

The ambassador reported that Algeria is always represented by a high-level delegation at Angolan events, having highlighted that his country’s delegations are the first to arrive and the last to leave and that this reflects the unique relationship between the two countries.

Mounir Bourouba recalled that Angola and Algeria maintain a parliamentary friendship group that has worked for many years to strengthen cooperation between the two parliaments.

He said this mechanism is part of parliamentary diplomacy and is extremely important for opening a new chapter in the bilateral relationship.

The Algerian ambassador said the two countries will continue to work to deepen and expand their relationship, ensuring the continuity of work between parliamentary groups.

The cooperation between Angola and Algeria has a long history, rooted in Algeria’s support for Angola’s struggle for independence.

Currently, the two countries are focused on strengthening economic and trade ties by preparing agreements in areas such as transportation (direct flights) and hydrocarbons. They are also working to promote sustainable development and peace in Africa through the AU.
