Africa-Press – Angola. The Minister of Mineral Resources, Petroleum and Gas, Diamantino Azevedo, called on Monday in Luanda for coordination, commitment and a sense of responsibility to improve the quality in the execution of public policies in the sector and align structuring projects with concrete results.
Speaking at the 11th Meeting of the Advisory Council of the Ministry of Mineral Resources, Petroleum and Gas, the minister underscored that the real challenge of public governance lies in the implementation, rigorous monitoring and ability to correct flaws found in the projects.
The minister considered it necessary to significantly improve the way actions are presented and monitored, noting that “scattered and excessively descriptive or poorly comparable information does not help in decision-making”.
Azevedo spoke of the need to evolve towards a better model that allows, in a few minutes, to understand what “is being executed well, what is at risk and where urgent intervention is needed at the highest level,” emphasizing that projects fail more often due to a lack of monitoring, coordination, and accountability.
“This is not just a technical issue, it is a matter of good governance, since governing well today means governing with data, with focus and with disciplined execution,” the minister said.
Diamantino Azevedo recalled that the Mineral Resources, Petroleum and Gas sector plays a central role in the country’s economic development, in attracting investment and creating value, which requires a high level of professionalism, rigor and commitment.
The 11th Meeting of the Advisory Council, which concludes took place under the theme “Structuring projects of the sector: current status and challenges” and has as its main objective the analysis of strategic matters for the sector.
It provides an update on the structuring projects of the mining and oil segments, including those completed in the last five years and those that are in the execution phase.
